What hard mode means

Hard mode is not a character flaw. It is what happens when several uncommon traits are required at once. Each bar can be fair; the product is tiny.

Under ~1% of the adult target gender after filters is a practical definition of hard mode for this site.

A worked stack

Start with single adults in an age band, add a 6'0" floor (~14.5% of US men), add a high income floor, then fitness and education. The remaining share often lands well below 1%.

National headcounts can still number in the tens of thousands — local exposure is usually the bottleneck.

How to play intentionally

Expand geography, use more meeting channels, and re-run the calculator yearly as your age window moves.

Or relax the single most expensive filter. The breakdown panel shows which one that is.
