Methodology
How we calculate
Filters apply sequentially to the adult population of the selected region. Each active filter multiplies the remaining share. When cross-tabs are unavailable (e.g. height × income), we assume independence — a simplifying approximation called out in results context.
Soft preferences (looks importance, dealbreakers, lifestyle) mainly feed a separate strictness score and lightly nudge multipliers so they cannot dominate census-style rarity.
Selectivity score (1–10)
Pool share maps to a 1–10 score via documented thresholds (wider pools → lower scores). Strictness can bump the score slightly. This is an original mapping — not a claim of identical proprietary percentiles from any third-party site.
Focused tools
- Ideal Partner — same demographic multipliers; no selectivity score framing
- Dating Pool — age + marital status + geographic scale + sex ratio
- Height rarity — normal approximation around published mean/SD by sex
- Body count — disclosed joke formula only
Regional sources (inspirational)
- United States: ACS-style age/income/education / marital patterns; NHANES-style measured height/BMI
- Canada: Statistics Canada–style census & health measures
- United Kingdom: ONS census + health survey height
- Australia: ABS census + health survey patterns
- Europe: Eurostat aggregates; ethnicity limited / estimated
Limitations
- Tables are summarized approximations, not full microdata
- Data may lag 1–3 years behind the latest releases
- Geography uses coarse population scales
- Compatibility, attraction, and app dynamics are out of scope
